Brief
St Winfrid's church did not have a website, and as such needed an online presence. Whilst St Winfrid's is primarily a church, the facilities that St Winfrid's provides are regularly used by the local community. We needed to design a site that not only catered for church members, but also those in the local area looking for specific facilities that the church might be able to provide.
Our Solution
Our first action was to decide who the primary audience was. It's impossible to target all audiences to the same degree, so we instead divide the audience up in to primary, secondary and tertiary. By knowing who these audiences are, we can make better decisions regarding layout and content, leading to a more focused website. It was decided that the website should primarily advertise to current and future church members, and those looking for the church's facilities where a secondary consideration. This has been reflected in the layout of the home-page where we describe the church first, rather than the facilities it provides. We have catered for the secondary audience by using clear call-to-action buttons and headings.
The new website for St Winfrid's has been built from the ground up around our custom Content Management System that allows the church leadership team to update the website themselves. Team members can log in and easily add details on upcoming events and news articles, which is a valuable resource for such a community-led organisation. The new website is also responsive and mobile friendly.
