The Internet is a big place, it’s hard to calculate its size but there are billions of web pages [1]. So how can you tell if someone is writing about you, good or bad?
Well Google is by far the world’s most popular search engine, and it continually ‘reads’ and indexes websites all over the Internet. Google has a feature called Google Alerts which allows you to monitor the web for interesting content.
If you visit https://www.google.co.uk/alerts and enter in your name (or your business’ name), Google will send you an email every time it finds a page that contains it.
So if I write this article, and include the words “Aaron Whiffin”, soon Google will ‘read’ this page and send me an email letting me know.
So if you want to know what people are saying about you, use Google Alerts.
